The Upstate Transportation Forum is history. We hoped to register 75 and 103 people came. Presentations are published!

Successful mobility management is essential for New York's economy, environment and communities to become more sustainable. This is hard, in the trenches, work, requiring successful coalition building, inter-relationships, mutual support and resources. Mobility managers need to share ideas, problems, solutions, and customer-focused strategies.
103 people attended, a broad spectrum of participants interested in developing sustainable mobility in Upstate NY communities. The target market included transportation operators, community development agencies, planners, mobility managers, community organizers, academia, local and state elected officials, large employers, entrepreneurs, local and State agencies, and sustainability advocates.

Mobility Managers Meet
Eighteen people came to the mobility managers meeting on Sept 22 to share issues and solutions in the first session of the Forum. The session was created by the group. Participants volunteered three questions for discussion & resolution every 15-20 minutes. The group shared ideas for answers. The cycle repeated. We resolved to meet at the NYPTA Conference in Nov. 2011. Interest was expressed in creating a statewide network of mobility managers to engage State policy makers and other partners.

The popcorn session was held in Cinemapolis's largest theater as the afternoon was winding down. After a full day of concurrent sessions, we wanted to offer an open session to hear feedback and discuss issues and concerns from the participants. Of course, there was plenty of popcorn too. The discussion was captured and organized (mind mapped) using MindManager software. The empty box in the center of the image below was a graphic of "Ideas", (which was not displayed when the file was saved in this format. The questions and statements were generated by the participants. |
